From Our House

Welcome to July!  Yikes!  Where in the world did June go???  Today begins the next challenge from Crafty Hazelnut's Christmas Challenge Extra.  We are a month long "Anything (Christmas related) Goes" challenge.  Our sponsor is the fabulous Bugaboo Stamps and the winner will receive 7 images of their choice (not to mention the satisfaction of having completed another Christmas card!).
One of my absolute favorite images from Bugaboo is this adorable little Plush Reindeer!  Just LOVE him!!  And what is even cuter than one Plush Reindeer?  Well, TWO Plush Reindeer! Don't you think?
My digital cardmaking skills are pretty limited, I have to admit.  I'm quite adept at downloading them, sizing and printing, but beyond that . . . not so much.  So, I am quite pleased with myself since I managed to figure out how to rotate one of the reindeer to make a mirror image.  (Yes, I know this is probably pretty basic.)  I introduce to you Mr. & Mrs. P. Reindeer; aren't they cute!?  I added a little pink to the Mrs. and gave her a pearl pen necklace and voila!  Cuteness times two.
I made this as a gatefold card for a little fun and interest.  This last picture shows it all opened up and the sentiment inside.  It reads "Merry Christmas from our house to yours".

No Rulz! Blog Hop!

It's summer and it's hot, so let's break it up a bit! The Love To Scrap! Challenge Blog Design Team is happy to bring you our "No Rulz!" Blog Hop! We're being sponsored by River City Rubber Works! Come hop with us for a chance to win a $25 gift certificate!
As you hop, leave comments! The more comments you leave, the more chances you have to win!

All of the LTSCB designers are creating Anything Goes inspiration projects for our blog hop. Everyone participating in the blog hop is invited to link up a 'No Rulz' project for extra entry/entries into the drawing! No rules for this challenge!

For my card, I chose this beautiful image called "Sunflowers, Large".  The DT received digital images of the River City Rubber Works rubber stamps.  And I have to admit, when I first saw this one printed out I was a little disappointed.  It just seemed a bit blurry, you know, not crisp.  But I had to use it so I colored it up and now I LOVE it!!  The blurriness is really just shading and it helps the image come alive.  I also love how this card turned out.  It's CAS but really grabs me.

I printed the image out three times, colored and layered different parts of the image to create some really awesome dimension.  The first layer is the entire image.  The second layer is the three flowers facing the front and the third layer is the two larger flowers.  You can see the dimension in the following picture:

To finish the image off, I added brown stickles to the centers of the flowers.  Can you see the sparkle in this last photo???

Here is the line-up:

We hope you are enjoying the hop and if you get lost along the way - or if you landed here in the middle of the hop and want to join in the fun - head over to the Love To Scrap!Challenge Blog to read all the details and start from the beginning!

Happy Hopping!  Thanks so much for stopping by today.

Birthday Wishes

We had a family birthday party this weekend.  The birthday girl turned 60 and I was going to make a card that had the numbers on it, but then I wasn't completely sure she was turning 60 and it would be pretty bad to put that on a card if she wasn't.  Don't think that would have gone over well.  So, I settled for this adorable cupcake instead.  I just think it is so sweet.

In the barnyard

Welcome, everyone!  Today begins a new challenge on the Love To Scrap! Challenge Blog and I know it's a big favorite with everyone: Anything Goes.  Our wonderful sponsors are:

I was able to use this beautiful image from River City Rubber Works.  Isn't it fabulous?!  I think this card will be for my husband's grandfather.  He and his daughter (my mother-in-law) are really into horses and have had quite a few through the years.  We actually live in the house he built when he and his wife were first married and we have a barn that looks very similar to this.  And my mother-in-law still has horses and has a barn that also looks similar.  So, I think this is a very fitting image for a card for him.

Golden Christmas

Welcome to my mid-month inspiration for Crafty Hazelnut's Christmas Challenge Extra.  We are a month long, anything Christmas related goes challenge.  Our sponsor is the fabulous Bugaboo Stamps and the winner will receive 7 images of their choice.  Here is my inspiration card for you:
I am not usually a big fan of gold, but I have to say how much I love how this card turned out.  The sentiment is embossed in this gorgeous sparkly gold powder and the gold matting just really sets off the pink.  And I spritzed some gold mist on the poinsettia.  You can see that in the photo below.  I didn't have any gold pearls so I colored some white pearls with my gold paint pen.  Perfect match!

Friend

I very rarely make a card just for fun; I usually have an occasion or a person in mind.  But when I saw this sketch from As You See It Challenge, I just had to play along.  LOVE it!
AYSIChallenge089
As soon as I saw it, I had this ticket die in mind.  This is the first time I've used it as I wasn't really sure what to do with it.  I think it turned out really well.  I also used up a few pieces that had been sitting on my desk from previous projects.  So, it's a win-win.

Birthday Wishes

Can I just say I had a lot of fun on this card?!  I did a lot of fussy cutting and piecing.  It all began with the "chrome" on this cute little bug.  I was just going to color it gray and forget about having it look shiny as I don't know how to color it that way.  And then I got to thinking.  I have some aluminum tape  (that my dad uses for chimney rebuilding/lining) and I knew it would give that perfect chrome look.  So I stamped the image again onto the tape with Stazon and then cut out the tale lights, trunk pull, license plate frame and rear bumper.  As the aluminum tape is self adhesive, it was easy to adhere all those little pieces. Then I stamped again on white card stock and cut out the actual license plate and the tale lights and adhered them.  It came out perfect!  And I really wanted to make the rear window into a shaker card; it really adds to the party theme.
Here's the shaker in action and the shine of all the chrome:

Father's Day Wishes

Happy Monday and Happy 1st day of June!  Today begins a new challenge at Love To Scrap! Challenge Blog: Male Call (make a man-themed project and make sure there is some stamping on it).  The sponsors for this challenge are:

I was given this fabulous rubber stamp from Stamps on Fire: "Hunter Silhouette".  As it is a silhouette, it was just begging to have an inky background behind it.  Don't you think?
I created a sunset as it looks like this hunter and his dog are returning from a long day of hunting.  As it doesn't look like they got anything, I think they were really just enjoying each other's company.
