Awesome Day

I've been having a lot of fun using the Viva La Verve One-Sheet Wonder challenge this month.  The sketches are provided and they've even included the cutting measurements to create 4 cards out of one 6x6 double-sided piece of patterned paper.  I actually used two sheets of single sided paper for these and then I created 4 additional cards with the other pieces.  8 cards in one day!  And I just think they are so cute!
I used the same embossing folder, patterned papers and sentiment on each, but they are each unique due to the different layouts.

Gift tags

I made a little gift of goodies to give to a friend and wanted some quick tags to label each different treat.  Since I had just bought the Mat Stack 3 stamp and die sets from PTI I knew they would make the perfect tags.  Cut, stamp, add the die cut snowflake and voila!  Done!  Actually, I used my crop-a-dile to punch holes for ribbon to go through.  I was able to label the treats in those nice black strips on the tags.  They were soooo cute!

One-sheet wonder

Merry Christmas!  I hope you all had an awesome day celebrating with family.  This month's VLV challenge is 4 sketches with the additional challenge of using only ONE sheet of double-sided 6x6 paper.  Julee included the cutting dimensions, so you don't even have to figure it out!  Here are my 4 cards all together.  I obviously used the same paper, but I used different embossing folders on three of them.   Two use the same folder.  With different embellishments, they all coordinate, but are each unique.
This is the card that I started off with.  I made it for a friend who's birthday was the 23rd.  I used a botanical embossing folder and gray pearls to embellish.
Card #2 went masculine as I needed a birthday card for my cousin, too.  The only embellishment is a little silver button.  Gotta keep it simple for the guys, right?
The 3rd card is an anniversary card for my parents.  I used the same embossing folder as on the first card, added some white pearls instead of gray and used a sheer yellow ribbon and bow to finish it off.
I didn't have a need immediately for a 4th card, but I thought a "thanks you" card would finish off the 4 card "set".  I also added white pearls to this one.

My first nephew was born in July and now this is going to be his first Christmas.  I know he won't remember any of it, and he definitely won't appreciate this card (unless his parents save it for later, and they just might!), but I still needed to make him a Baby's First Christmas card.  So, here it is:

Gift Tin

Here it is: the middle of December, so here I am with some mid-month inspiration for Crafty Hazelnut's Christmas Challenge Extra.  You still have a few days to get some Christmas crafting done.  The challenge is Anything Christmas Goes and it lasts for the whole month.  I decided to alter a gift card holder tin.  I don't know why I've never thought of this before, but it's perfect!  It's one of those gift card holders that you can buy at Walmart or someplace like that; someone gave it to me a few years ago.  I adhered some ribbon around the top edge of the tin and then decorated the top.  I love how it came out; it really makes the tin extra special.  And it's even perfect for the recipient to regift.
And here's a shot of the inside with the gift card already in it.

Now it's your turn to get crafty and play along.  We love seeing what you create.

Snow Globe

Here I am again.  It's getting down to crunch time--Christmas is only a week and a half away!  Yikes!!  I made this cute little tag for my oldest daughter.  I'm going to attach it to one of her presents, and then it can also be used as an ornament.  It's quite good sized; I think the globe measured around 3.5 inches tall.  I made it into a shaker and added some diamond dust glitter from SU!  I just love shaker elements.  So fun!

Holiday Cheer

Hello, all!  Thanks for stopping by.  In case you don't know, there is a Coffee Lovers Blog Hop going on right now.
For the full details and a list of all the fabulous sponsors go to Amy Tsuruta's blog.  She's the mastermind behind the whole thing.  Now, I don't drink coffee, but I am surrounded by people that do.  I think non-coffee drinkers are in the very small minority, at least around here in Southern New England.  So, I created this cute little gift card holder that will hold either a Dunkin Donuts or Starbucks gift card (it will actually hold any kind of gift card, but this is a Coffee Lovers Blog Hop)
The holder is made out of an A2 sized envelop.  Then just decorate it to your heart's content.
Don't you just love those paper pieced coffee cups?  I do!!  Here's a picture of the inside:
Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a Merry Christmas!!

Look on the bright side

No matter had bad things seem, they could usually be worse.  That's the encouraging message of this cute card.  Isn't this little nurse the cutest?!  Though I have to admit that she looks a little gruff.  I'm sure she's taking good care of poor teddy.

Last Call

Here it is: December!  Now the Christmas card rush is on.  Unless you have been playing along with us all year long at Crafty Hazelnut's Christmas Challenge Extra where it is Anything Goes (as long as it is Christmas related) all month long.  Today begins our last challenge of the year and here is my card using one of the adorable images from Bugaboo Stamps, our sponsor for the month:
I've said it many time before this is my favorite Bugaboo image and since it was already printed out and sitting on my desk, I just had to color him up.  Since it was such a small size and I've had snow globes on the brain lately, it was a perfect match.  I even managed to use up some scraps: the white circle for the main panel and the snowflake.  I have a HUGE bits and pieces pile and I am going to have to work on using it up in the coming year.  I started this year, but the last couple months I've been adding to it instead of using it up.

Challenges:
Sugar Pea Designs #11--winter wishes
Crafty Ribbons #107--Christmas Animals
Lacy Sunshine--North Pole
Cuttlebug Mania--There's Snow place like home (use a snowflake and a sentiment)

Turkey Day

Happy Thanksgiving (a couple days late)!  I hope you all had a fabulous day with family and friends and lots of yummy food!  Last year I started my own tradition of making little favors to put at everyone's place.  These are the little cuties I made:
I found the turkey idea on Pinterest (where else, right?).  They were really pretty easy, but here's a tip: if you can find double stuffed oreos (might have to go with the traditional cookie) it would be a whole lot easier to put the stick in there!  Of course, I had to pull out my papercrafting supplies:   I die cut a tag and stamped it with a sentiment and a cute little turkey which you will be able to see better in the next photo.  Then I tied it on with a bit of twine and finished it off with two ribbons.

Challenges:
Paper Nest Dolls #23--anything goes
Shopping Our Stash #179--Free is Good (the orange ribbon is something my mom had left over from her crafting days.  I have yards of it.  Free will be good for a looooong time)
Word Art Wednesday #168--anything goes with uplifting sentiment

Brown Sugar #122--anything goes

Supplies:
Stamps: Verve "Tall Oaks" sentiment; PTI "Places, Please" turkey

Happy Thanksgiving

I don't make to many Thanksgiving cards; I've just never gotten into the habit.  But the last couple of years I have been sending one to my Grandmother, because grandmothers are special (right?) and as I live 3 1/2 hours away from her I don't usually get to see her on Thanksgiving.  So, here's my card for her:
The Make it Monday Challenge from Papertrey Ink this week is to make your own plaid patterned paper.  This is the first time I had given it a try and I think I like how it came out.  The lighter "brown" stripes are actually supposed to be orange and I think I would have liked that color combo a bit better, but I only have the one orange ink and it looks brown, so what are you going to do?  The sentiment was also stamped in the same orange (that still looks brown).  Anyway, I think I will definitely try this technique again.

Challenges:
Love to Scrap Challenge #41--say it in color (sentiment must be in a color other than black)
Cuttin' & Stampin' #1--Thanksgiving
Word Art Wednesday #159--anything goes with uplifting sentiment
Paper Pretties #357--thanksgiving/be thankful
The Stamping Chef #56--anything goes

Monkey Business

Happy Friday!  This week we have our final challenge of the year from Chrismtas Stampin' All Year Long.  It's kind of a sad time for me, as it is also going to be my last challenge as part of the Design Team.  So many other things I need and want to do, so I have to step down. : (
The last challenge of the year is Anything Goes.  We are going to have 4 winners this week with prizes from 4 of the sponsors we have had throughout the year.  So, come on and play along!  We are also going to have 3 winners picked at random from comments on each of the DT blogs.  So that is 7 winners in all this week!  You can see a list of all the sponsors with their prizes and the list of blogs to visit when you stop by the CSAYL blog.
Here's the hop list:
Heather Mills (that's me!)
I created my card with an adorable little monkey from Meljen's Designs (one of our fabulous sponsors this year).  Isn't he cute?
I had the image sitting on my desk and decided to color him up.  I stamped a hat from a JustRite Stampers set, colored it and cut it out.  Then I added some white flocking powder to the brim and pompom and attached it to the monkey's head.  It is a perfect fit and looks like it belongs on the image.  I made a little snow globe and filled it with some chunky glitter.  Due to some not-planning ahead issues (anyone else ever have those?) the image was off center in the globe, but I made it look intentional by curving a clear sentiment and stamping it inside the globe.  Problem solved!

Thanks so much for stopping by, specially those of you that came for the Blog Hop/Final Challenge from CSAYL.

Challenges:
Raisin Boat #29--Christmas & Holiday

Sweet Angel

Thanks for stopping by!  It's time for some mid-month inspiration from Crafty Hazelnut's Christmas Challenge Extra.  As always, it is anything goes all month long.  How easy is that?  Here's my card:
I just got this new stamp set from Just Rite Stampers and I thought this little angel was so cute, I just had to ink her up.  The holy leaves are also from the same set, I just stamped them, sponged them with some ink and cut them out.  No patterned paper used on this one, all the "papers" were made with gold old ink and stamps.  It's a great way to get papers that match. : )  Unfortunately, I used a light pink ink on the pink paper for some subtle patterns and it just doesn't show up very well in the photo.

Challenges:
Christmas Cards All Year 'Round--no dp
Sweet Stamps #145--Lovely Layers
Holly Jolly--color choice (I chose pink, green, kraft and white)

Silent Night

Happy Friday!  It's time for another challenge from Christmas Stampin' All Year Long.  It's another easy one for you this week as Christmas is quickly approaching: Anything Goes!  This card is something I just envisioned in my head and it turned out pretty much just like I was thinking.  It was going to be a regular A2 size, but when I was looking through my card stock I came across this piece that was already cut and scored for a 3x3 in card.  I thought my card idea could be cute as a mini and I was right!  And it used up a piece that has been sitting around for a while.  Win-win, I think.

Challenges:
Frosted Designs--white space (both literally and figuratively!)
Verve November Diva Dare--vellum visions
Christmas Card Challenge #50--Faith based (holy night)

Birthday Card #2

It's my twins' 6th birthday today!  I can't believe they are that old already.  I tried to make them stay 5, but they kept saying they couldn't.  In my previous post I showed the card for the middle child.  This is the card for my youngest.  She has a sweet little puppy stuffed animal that looks just like this sweet guy.
I paper pieced his hat and his body.  I'm not very good at large area coloring, so I figured if I printed it out on kraft card stock and then added a bit of shading it would be perfect.  I think he came out really good.  Here is a photo of the two cards together.  I used the same papers/colors since I already had them out.  And they are for twins after all. : )

Let's Celebrate

Today my babies turn six!  I can't believe it.  I seems like they were just toddlers and now they are turning into big kids!  This card is for the middle child.  She loves monkeys and her special stuffed animal is a monkey that looks very similar to this cute little guy.  And how sweet is this?  As she was opening the envelope, she said, "This is from Mama 'cause it's so pretty."  Awww . . . just melted my heart.  It's good to have some fans. : )
You can see by the shadows on the image that I popped up his head and his feet on some foam tape to give some fun dimension.

Christmas leftovers

Happy first Friday of November!  Whoo, can you believe it is here already?  Only a few more weeks until Christmas.  Are you ready with all your Christmas cards?  No?  Well, here we are with another challenge from Christmas Stampin' All Year Long to help you along.  This week the challenge is Anything Goes.  Easy, right?  Here is my card:

I've been slowly going through all my crafty stuff to get it organized.  This week, I have been tackling some of my papers and card stock, organizing the bits in pieces into color groups so all I have to do is grab a group and I can find a piece I need.  One thing I found was this beautiful striped oval; it was already cut out and as soon as I saw it, I envisioned it as the base for a poinsettia.  And, voila!  It worked just as I thought.  LOVE it!  And the best part about this card is that not one single full sheet of paper was harmed in making this card.  Everything was from small off-cuts, even the white base.  I did have to cut into the red piece of mulberry paper that I used for the poinsettia, so that was the only casualty.  Remember Mulberry paper?  From way back, long ago.  Well, I used it for the flower and the leaves and the texture it adds is fabulous!  And it cuts AND embosses perfectly.  I will be pulling out more from my stash again in the near future.  Here is the inside with the rest of the sentiment and another scrap of that pretty striped paper:

Very Merry

So, here it is: November!  Can you believe it's here already?!  It is time for another challenge from Crafty Hazelnut's Christmas Challenge Extra.  As always, it is anything Christmas-related goes all month long.  We'd love to have you join us.  It is time to get working on those Christmas cards if you haven't already.  As it is every month, our sponsor is Bugaboo Stamps and the winner will receive 7 images of their choice.  Here is my card:
I had purple out for the card I made for my previous post and decided to use it again.  I really love purple for Christmas cards; it's so regal looking (purple is the color of royalty after all).  The purple dotted paper reminds me of falling snow and I played up that theme with all the die cut snowflakes.  I really like the look of the vellum snowflake.  Unfortunately, it doesn't show it's true softness in the photo.

Challenges:
Time Out Challenges #17--birds of a feather flock together (penguins do have feathers, I think)
Holly Jolly--bingo (I used the diagonal row glitter, 2 dp, diecuts)
Word Art Wednesday #156--anything goes with uplifting sentiment
